Freesat announces first PVR

Freesat, the UK’s free satellite service has announced that is is set to launch its first PVR. Funnily enough, its going to be called Freesat+, and is due for release in November. It is though this will take on skys offerings head to head.

The service which was launched in the last half year has already sold over 100,000 receivers (set top boxes and integrated TVs).

The system, which has benefited from a summer of hi-def sports including Euro 2008, Wimbledon and the Olympic Games, will receive a second big push from licensed manufacturers this autumn.

Unfortunately it would appear there are still a lot of people out there who think they’re already watching in HD because they have an HD ready TV, as confirmed by a spokesperson, which is of course incorrect.
