DVI cables
DVI cables are not commonly used to connect devices to HD Televisions, but that doesnt mean it can't be done. DVI is a digital connection and is the equivalent of the analog VGA cable. However, unlike HDMI, this also means there is no sounds transmitted through this cable.
This cable is used to connect a laptop, media-center PC, computer (etc) to a television which will display the desktop on the screen like a normal monitor would.
You can get adapters for DVI to HDMI, and also VGA to DVI. The DVI connectors have special pins on them that will also take the signal from a VGA cable making them backwards compatible. This also means the cable is suitable for older monitors as well (with the use of an adapter).
