Back in January I bought a 32 inch Regza and this one for the bedroom. The 32 inch quickly developed the fault where the set wouldn't turn on from standby. So did the replacement, at which point I gave up and bought a Samsung. Then a few weeks ago this TV developed the exact same fault, but I perservered since I was fed up returning TVs. But now the TV has started switching itself off by the simple expedient of the power cable loosening itself sufficiently from the back of the TV to cut the power. Push it back in and the TV comes on again for about a second before the plug comes loose again. OK I could glue it in or otherwise secure it but why should I have to?
So have I just been unlucky? Three dud TVs out of three (including two different models) says otherwise. This one is now going back and I will replace with something other than a Toshiba Regza. I can only suppose most of the good reviews were written soon after purchase. A great looking TV which works fine when it works, but so many problems indicate that they've got something fundamentally wrong somewhere. |
